One of the main services we provide is onsite preparation of chemotherapy for patients receiving treatment at St John of God Bunbury Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
Having an onsite pharmacy that compounds chemotherapy allows for infusions to be made on a daily basis after blood results and patient status is reviewed. This setup has many benefits, including allowing for faster initiation and greater flexibility of treatment and a significant reduction in wasted doses.
Our specialist staff are highly skilled and start compounding each morning to prepare chemotherapy for patients that day. The compounding takes place inside negative-pressure isolators in a purpose built room. This helps maintain the highest level of sterility and protects the staff from unnecessary exposure to cytotoxic agents.
